Fox News Contributor: Your War on Christmas is ‘Silly’

a fox news religion contributor who is
also a catholic priest has said a fox the war on christmas thing you have
going it’s silly this is father jonathan morris was a
catholic priest and a regular contributor to fox news he was on to
talk about the war on christmas and he basically said you know it is
silly for people to try to remove christmas stuff but it’s also silly that you have this
poor on christmas look take a listen to father morris here as bahir nahi dead
finding out what are you are not feeling angry demo you know and and the reason and i think there is that or yes i think it’s still the it’s out
of place for people to dedicate so much energy to try to get return christmas
scenes like this okay the good news is when it christianity
has been persecuted what has been outline when it when people have died
for their fate it hasn’t gone away and everybody has an
opportunity to make sure that their faith does not go away in this christmas
season and to live that faith as a family as a community what should we do about these and i think it very small personage of people who are working to
try to get rid of these public expressions of faith well i think we
should speak out that’s why i’m doing it that’s why i think it’s important and we
have these stories to show what they’re trying to do without losing the peace carcasses
christmas is going to be all about getting upset people which i did take
away our christmas isn’t that silly to there you know if it’s silly to make the
entire christmas a narrative on fox news the handful of people who were trying to quote restrict
christmas displays he’s making a very reasonable point here
and i don’t think they liked it on the fox and friends of the people who coined
the term warren christopher side of the week expected completely take things out of out of
context he’s calling their entire city premising completely the question is good to know and i think it is good and let’s think about something else if foxnews engaged in a war against
poverty in the same way that they’ve been
claiming that there’s a war on christmas exist uh… uh… that would be really living
up to the ideals of christmas in christianity instead they’re complaining about the alleged suppression of religious symbols and icons it’s at
more than anything they christianity is the real deal in the third if their dog
is the real one the reported that they cannot help the
care of the care of everything

Anyone that believes there is a war on Christmas in America should have a discussion with non-Christians.

Imagine how the Whos down in Whoville would have reacted to the Grinch stealing Christmas if they were like Fox News… lol

Jon Stewart, you guys, msnbc… How long is this joke of a news network going to be number one?!! I just don't get it!!!

Thing is, in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE SCENARIOS, it is the CHRISTIANS whose actions are resulting in the removal of such displays, because they don't want tributes to Darwin or Saturnalia or solstice displays, and because the constitution only allows for such religious displays only if all groupings who want such displays get representation, then they ban ALL displays in order to silence the heretics. Then they use the war on christmas mantra to blame the unbelievers.

  5. dangerouslytalented

    December 5, 2012 2:28 am

except if you dissect each individual story, it is the same thing over and over again: Unbelievers want their own displays alongside the christian ones, and the christians ban ALL displays rather than allow the unbelievers to put their Qwaanzaa or Darwin day or Saturnalia or Solstice or Flying Spaghetti Monster displays up.

Being the #1 news network is like being the #1 shopping network. It still only accounts for a very small percentage of television viewers. Don't be fooled by their rhetoric. They can't match ratings with any major television programming.

    December 5, 2012 2:35 am

ok here is the thing i think people need to stop confusing faux TV "programs" with there news. faux and "friends", bill o dummy and the rest of those clowns are not news. i would call them comedy shows but that is a insult to comedy. but we should not call them news that's how they get there power in the first place cause they are mistaken for news shows. news shows have someone TELL the news and not have opinions on it.

People who believe that they have to have their religious symbols and text displayed as much as possible, in every public arena, exude an obvious desperation and insecurity about their faith. They know their religion cannot stand on its own merits, and that it is not backed up by reason, and that is why they have to do their best to brainwash the public with their imagery. You don't see scientists do this. You know why? Because what scientists say is actually true, and can be prove to be true.

LOL – Fox News' War on Poverty…..Somebody said it is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle, then fox news to advocate for a social cause (er…..something like that)….

Here in RI we settled the creche case back in the 1980's. So our Governor is correct in calling the trees in the State House by their proper name, Holiday Trees.

Conservatives want to cut government spending, so why not cut spending for Xmas scenes? Why should my taxes be used to advertise someone eles's religion? Why do Christian conservatives want to turn our best holiday into a religious war? What happened to "good will" and all that? Why must I say "Merry Christmas" to my Jewish friends on Hanukkah? Why can't I say "Happy Holidays"? Why do Christians have to get so angry every year at Christmas time & spoil it for everyone? Why are they so hateful?

  14. brandnutopian

If there's one thing that gets conservatives' attention it's a good old fashioned religious persecution rant!

i think it would be ok to rent public space thats cool, as a christian its what i grew up with, i dont think its right to use public funds for it, we have alot we need to to with those funds, more importent things, i also think other religions should rent public space for there holidays and religious events, america is all about diversity, why would anyone want to restrict diversity

And you sir are a dumbass. Christianity is about making choices. Libertarianism is about….making choices. There is no political ideology more Christian oriented than Libertarianism.

Hmmm, what percentage of American society are "christian" and what percentage are militant atheists? Boo fucking hoo, xtians. STFU!

  19. doctorliman

    December 5, 2012 6:00 am

I have never ever heard Christianity described as a religion of "making choices". From my understanding it is about believing Jesus is the son of God. And to follow the teachings of Jesus. Which I think can be summed up as: "rich people suck dick; lets help out the poor"

  20. gurumagoo

    December 5, 2012 6:22 am

That's all you've ever heard because you don't actually know the first thing about Christianity."believing Jesus is the son of God" is choice. Doing right or wrong is a choice. Christianity is about free will. A person without free will cannot be sinner. A person without free will cannot choose to be righteous. What part of this logical progression do you fail to understand?

    December 5, 2012 6:33 am

Fox is so dumb they'll interpret what the priest said as a ringing endorsement of their War on Christmas segments.

I don't approve of him encouraging people to keep their faith though, but I guess stifling intellectual progress and lying to children is his job.

  22. Lupercus50

Religion never went away before because the ordinary person did not have access to the information we have today, the internet, where religion comes to die.

    December 5, 2012 8:20 am

You have all these freaky people out there and they give the relgion a bad name then there's guys like that. I love Christians like that man. They are inspiring.

  24. darkridr25

    December 5, 2012 8:56 am

Well, to be fair, it never happened in the US. Over in Europe many were persecuted for practicing Christianity for hundreds of years. It's one of the reasons the Quakers took a ship to the US. Since Christmas is a part of Christianity, it can be argued that people had died while celebrating Christmas, if they were caught during that time of year practicing Christianity in general.

  25. UltimaKeyMaster

    December 5, 2012 4:23 pm

Thank God (pun intended) for someone on Fox News being smart for once. The combination of that and him being a Catholic priest is a kick in the teeth to Fox. They don't even have the religion they're trying to protect on their side. XD

  26. Trex100

    December 5, 2012 6:08 pm

Great comment DAVID P regarding if Fox waged a war on poverty then they would be living up to their so-called "faith". Yes, precisely! … It appears they are doing the devil's work. lol.

  27. darkridr25

    December 5, 2012 7:47 pm

Hmm…point taken. Yes, I suppose I wasn't specific enough. I tried generalizing so that my statement would include the time before Catholicism was officially adopted as well as after that point. You are right though: It was indeed the Protestant movement specifically that was persecuted, not Christianity in general….

  28. TieXiongJi

    December 5, 2012 8:13 pm

I tried to argue that point to a conservative christian, but they have a strong division between their what the religion tells them and what they actually believe.

  29. Wilder

    December 5, 2012 8:20 pm

They specifically said Percecuted and died. They may have been talking about the religion, in which case it only really happens in the Muslim world and once upon a time in Rome. Not only do i not see any relevance to secularism, but i don't see any relevance to christmas. (a mostly pagan celebration)

  30. darkridr25

    December 5, 2012 8:21 pm

Yeah? I've not heard about this before. Which states officially adopted Protestantism as their official religion? Are you referring to the Church of England? Or something more…?

  31. darkridr25

    December 5, 2012 8:34 pm

OK. I was hoping for something more specific, but no worries. I'll look into Prussia, Northern Ireland, and Scotland to find out more about their histories. Thank you very much for the extra info. 🙂

D-did Faux News get pwnd by a religious person?! And people said there are no such thing as miracles!

    December 6, 2012 12:20 am

I don't think so, all you would have to do is find out where he shops, strike up a conversation, pretend you don't know he's a priest, come on to him and then thing you know, Father's heals are in the air…or vise verse, depending on you! Good Luck. We both know the good Father knows how to kneel…LOL

I don't care for the religion he stands for but you are comparing a convicted and self admitted serial killer to man you do not know…..

  40. brandnutopian

    December 6, 2012 9:27 am

    That's a pretty touchy-feely response from someone named "iamborat100".

Seriously, I thought the priest was a bit of a cunt claiming "persecution" for not being able to display a nativity scene in a town he and most Fox News viewers aren't remotely likely to see. My post was in response to the half-wit who called him sane and well-spoken and my only intention was to suggest that things aren't what they appear to be sometimes. Besides, he's more likely a pedophile, isn't he?

No, actually Libertarianism is about liberty, peace, and civic responsibility. The Declaration of Independence and US Constitution were authored by Libertarians (aka Classical Liberals). Your head is apparently stuck in the Democrat/Republican paradigm. You don't actually understand the true distinction between Libertarian ideology and Democrat/Republican ideology. Democrats and Republicans are Statists. Libertarians (Classical Liberals) are the opposite.

  42. gurumagoo

    December 6, 2012 4:19 pm

The only real distinction between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans won't cut military spending and Democrats won't cut social spending. Between the two parties all we get is more debt. Libertarians want to cut spending on both, cease fighting wars of aggression, mind our own business, trade with people instead of bombing them, and prevent the government from running our lives. Seems like I recall someone saying: "Blessed are the peace makers."

One day, a Santa actor for the local mall dies of unknown complications. He is presented to God, and He says… "TO HELL WITH YOU, SINNER!" "What do you mean 'sinner'? I prayed every other day, went to Mass every Sunday, confessed each month, and have not missed a single Christmas." "That's the point," replied God. "You obviously didn't read the bible, especially the part where it says that I FUCKING HATE CHRISTMAS. Look at almost every goddamn chapter, you motherfucking Pagan. See you in hell."

  44. David Cherelin

I think you guys got this one completely backwards. This guy was saying christians are being persecuted, and how they have survived being banned, murdered…, and that they will survive this, too. He said that it was silly to try to take their christmas away, not that FOX was being silly.

  45. Mikail Zavalet

    February 17, 2013 4:57 am

Yes. That was the impression I got so too.
And taking into account the previous statements made by this "Father", that was very possibly what he was trying to say.

You have to be a terrible person to imply that an innocent person who has dedicated his whole life to the service of the people to a serial killer and rapist. Shame on you and all of the people that liked that attack.

I see Jonathan Morris' vow of poverty is going about as well as Marcial Maciel's vow of celibacy.

  48. Bill Smith

    May 7, 2013 11:48 pm

First of all Father Morrison is a Diocesan Priest, they do not profess vows to God. They give promises to their Bishop, and they do not give a promise or vow of poverty. Secondly why do you think he has a lot of money. Marcial Maciel was a sick person, and it is terrible to compare other innocent priests to people like him. Especially considering that Catholic priests are the least likely to molest a child. A teacher or man outside the clergy is far more likely to do this.

  49. brandnutopian

    May 8, 2013 12:24 am

Morris was a member the Legion Of Christ for over a decade, the organization founded by Marcial Maciel. To be a member you take vows of celibacy and poverty.

Morris is a Fox News employee, a published author, executive producer of The Catholic Channel on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, a motivational speaker and a contributor to the Wall Street Journal.

I think it's pretty safe to say he's not living in poverty.

I am an ex-Christian and even I will defend Christmas. Fuck these ignorant asswipes who try to censor Santa Claus.

If I had a fleet of air freighters, I'd send them to Fox News HQ, have them absolutely flood the place inside and out with Christmas decorations and mall santas, and have every single one of the planes have "FUCK YOU" painted on the side. It would be so beautiful, you don't even know.
