I hope not all of these political decisions are just a matter of black and white actions you take..

black and white? this is hardly black and white. On one hand you are to force and censor the news to only say facts and leave anything else out. Thus being a bit of a tyrent for the sake of truth, on the other hand the dwarf brings up an interesting point about how the news is not always at fault it is the sources. Yes you can argue that it is the news's fault as well but then you get into a bigger discussion and thus you realize its not all black and white as you think it is.

Could there be a better cause to be a tyrant than for the sake of truth? News has a duty to check and confirm their sources so as not to print rumors as truth.

(Post 1/2) yes its good to keep people to stay to the fact, but it also is bad to force and control how the news works, telling them to say the truth is just one way of saying they should say things one way and not another.I mean look at the elf, the way he talks its that he does not care of truth but more for the fact that no one finds anything out about him,of course it is nice to stand for truth as well

(post 2/2)but if people can't give opinion and source in fear of considered untruth or having an opinion that may cause an anti-whistle blowing mentality to crop up then the news itself fail as well because it restricts the press, and makes people fear telling anything for people to call untruthful. In the end no side is better. Its up to the people to say what is truthful and what is not.

    1. Is the coin flip random everyt ime?
    2. Wish I had a option to tell the press that they could lie, but only if it supported me, kinda like FOX, and do w.e. else they want.
    3. Or alternatively have an option to require them to put a huge disclaimer on every page that read "This article isn't substantiated by evidence, nor has the proper journalistic due diligence been done, as proposed by the Journalism Standards Board". or something to that effect.

The people have no say in what is true and untrue. Even if 5 billion people say that one plus one is three it is still untrue.
Restricting the press from lying, heck yes. And whistle blowing is telling the truth that the powerful don't want to be known, still about telling the truth which is good.

I like how Yorick's skull keeps changing shape when he speaks, like it was a face. It makes no sense whatsoever, but looks really cool. 😉

The first of the four or so decisions we've seen in videos of various sources so far which had me actually conflicted. Good job, Larian. Still the part of the game I'm by far looking forward to the most. It helps, of course, that I like strategy board games and RTS battles as well. 🙂

I would be for labeling. A tabloid gossip newspaper should not be masquerading as factual media.

You've played this scenario, and the coin can be random? The video shows the Imp getting heads.

    No.

I meant the fact tht you can only choose "yes" and "no" as an action you take. I wasn't talking about the topic itself. I've seen other examples being talked about where you can only take two actions favoring either race X or racy Y.

There really is no question here about which option to choose: either you gain the trust of 4 political figures, lose 1 and lose a newspaper that praises you, or you lose the trust of 4 political figures… obviously you want 4 political figures to trust you…

😀 well you still don't know who I am and I will never tell you about my lack of morals when it comes to competition in real life. Maybe someday I'll run for some sort of office and you'll vote for me. Who knows?

Sure it's possible that the dwarves could be a better decision, but the odd are HIGHLY stacked against it.

People don't want facts, they just want an entertaining story indeed! This really reminds me of that novel as well.

Support of dwarves could be assured in more…less one sided matter.
Also, if it would have been big source of income, that certainly would have been told to you.
So, you will be hostage to media then? If they will continue their lies then were could be more…something similar arranged that skeleton advised.
Absolute freedom of speech is an extremist kind of view which is just idealistic view of reality.
Elves certainly do, but as you have said, you will earn their support instead of dwarves

As I have saw, dwarves are constantly reminding of their income, so you cannot be sure then impact will be great and then insignificant. This question have one sided outcome. Well, at least for me, because my believes are well-argumented and strong. Due to that, questions that are difficult and complex for the rest of humanity are easy and simple for me. Why? Because I value certain things more than others and that changes my view to be less…human.

Another problem is very mechanical support system. It's unnorganic and unrealistic. You have support dropping or rising with 20% chunks without any thought that some might take this matter more deeply than others. And why for god's sake gnomes are displeased? They told before that they have no opinion on that matter, but their support changed just because coin says so? Well, this game just makes me xenophobic then.

Freedom of the press can be a very dangerous thing during war time.

Better to just ban the paper rather than risk them running articles that could sway public opinion. Granted you'd be hard pressed to find anti-war protestors when you're fighting demons, but that's a chance I'd rather not take.

Anti-war protest was usually right in the past.
Correction: Anti-war protest is always right. Unless it's a war like the one for the Kosovo, in wich case anti-war protest will end beeing unexistent.

Anti war protest is always right?
Not only is this a blatant absolute statement, it is also absolutely incorrect.

You know, I'm…feeling odd about this.

The elves and everybody seem to be idealized versions of various political stances, whereas the Dwarves are just a cartoonish stereotype that are always wrong.

Like, why didn't they bring up a legitimate point?

    Instead of:

"THAT'S CENSORSHIP MONEY MONEY MONEY GREEDY MONEY"

    Why not:

"That's censorship! Not tae mention that that we have so many investments in the Times that our coffers will go broke! And what's next then? Sure it's lies now, but are we goin' tae start changin' the news whenever it's convenient for us, even ehf eht's the truth?"
